Dogs – All our driven shoots have their own dogs for flushing and picking up the birds, but well behaved dogs are more than welcome. They will, however, be the responsibility of the owner / gun throughout the day. Any dogs considered to be disturbing the birds, causing other guns distress or a threat to any livestock will be quickly excluded from the day.

For those using West Venn accommodation, we have kennels available. Well behaved and clean dogs are allowed in the accommodation. Once again, the owners are fully responsible for any damage or cleaning costs.

Cartridges – We would recommend, for a 100 bird day, around 75 cartridges per gun. Choice of cartridge is a very personal preference but, in general, 30 grm 6’s are a good choice. For snipe and woodcock shooting, we would recommend 100 – 150 cartridges per gun and for duck flighting, please remember to bring non-toxic shot.

We do generally have a small stock of various cartridges available for those that run out or forget them. Plus, we can also arrange to have cartridges for when you arrive. Alternatively, you can buy them from the gun shop which is 20 minutes drive away.

Gun Storage – We have gun cabinets in the Farmhouse

Insurance – It is the responsibility of each person(s) attending the shoot to ensure they have adequate and up to date insurance cover. We would recommend BASC insurance with £1million third party indeminity, as well as insurance cover for your guns and personal belongings whilst you are away from your home. We will ask for written assurances of such cover from all prior to shooting. We are not responsible for any loss or damage.

Deposits – We will require £100 deposit from each gun to secure any shooting days. The remainder of the balance to be paid either 14 days before the day in question if paying by cheque, or cash on the morning of the shoot. Accommodation costs to be paid the same as above.

Licences / Gun Permits – You are required by law to have a shotgun licence or permit if bringing guns into the UK

Gun Hire – If required, we can provide 12 and 20 gauge shotguns for hire on the day of any shoot organised by Stevie Mac’s Sporting. This is at a cost of £30.00 per gun. The hirer will be required to show their original licence / permit and insurance before any guns are released. The hirer shall be responsible for any damage to the gun whilst in their possession.
